Knowtion is a space for education professionals to connect, access knowledge and opportunities and find support throughout their careers. At its core, Knowtion strives to bridge the gap between educators supporting students in classrooms each day and the research, tool development and policy making happening concurrently outside of those classrooms. This platform is a vibrant ecosystem where education professionals can seamlessly connect, learn, and collaborate while contributing to the industry at the same time.
The core features of Knowtion include a public and private space, direct messaging, virtual meetings and a library of favorite content. In the public space, the community and knowledge centers are where educators can access each other, respond to questions and find other organizations that could support their work. The knowledge page has curated content vetted by education experts. This content ranges from grant opportunities, research, practitioner tools and other timely and relevant information from the Education field.
In the private space, organizations can create networks to facilitate shared learning and collaboration despite geographic barriers. Organizations can create groups and threaded discussions. They have a resource repository and space for collaboration around each resource. Organizations can also send announcements and manage their membership seamlessly through their dashboard. Knowtion was developed to create more equitable access to the broader education industry and close these gaps on the research from the Carnegie Foundations principles of improvement science to enhance educational quality and Clay Shirky’s insights around organizing without formal structures.
